Bred by Jacques Plantier (France, 1825).
Introduced in France by Jean-Pierre Vibert in before 1836 as 'Gloire des Rosomanes'.
Introduced in Australia by F. C. Davis in 1862 as 'Monthly Scarlet'.
Class:
China / Bengale, Hybrid Bourbon.  
Bloom:
Carmine-red.  Red filaments.  Moderate fragrance.  Large, semi-double (9-16 petals), in small clusters bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Fragrant foliage.  7 leaflets.  

Height: 5' to 15' (150 to 455cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 7b through 10b.  Can be used for garden or understock.  Can be trained as a climber.
