Origin:

Bred by Robert L. Smith (United States, 2005).
Introduced in United States by Sam Kedem Nursery & Garden Historic Archive (business is closed) in 2005 as 'Dakota Sun'.

Class:

Shrub.

Bloom:

Yellow. Mild fragrance. Average diameter 4". Large, full (26-40 petals), cluster-flowered, in small clusters, quartered bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Habit:

Medium, upright. Medium, glossy, medium green foliage.

Height: up to 4' (up to 120cm). Width: up to 3' (up to 90cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 4b and warmer. Can be used for garden, hedge, landscape or shrub. Very hardy. Remove spent blooms to encourage re-bloom. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

Notes:

As of December 15, 2010, the American Rose Society Modern Roses 12 database shows this rose registered as a "single". The photo of the rose on the Sam Kedem Nursery & Garden website shows a rose that is "full" or "very full". Since Sam Kedem Nursery is listed as the introducer of the rose, both on HelpMeFind and in the Modern Roses 12 database, we have changed the description to show that it has 26-40 petals (full), pending correction of the American Rose Society correction.
