Origin:
Bred by Jules Auguste Margottin fils (France, before 1872).
Introduced in France by Frédéric Damaizin in 1872 as 'Antoine Alléon'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Cherry-red, crimson center.  Large, double (17-25 petals), scalloped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
