Bred by Jacques-Julien Margottin père (1817-1892) (France, 1857).
Introduced in Australia by John J. Rule, Victoria Nursery in 1860 as 'Duke of Cambridge'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Crimson.  Large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
The POM study in Sweden classed 'Duc de Cambridge' as a Bourbon (see References); it is therefore possible that 'Duc de Cambridge' in gardens and commerce is not the damask by Laffay, but rather the HP by Margottin.
