Origin:
Bred by Jean-Pierre Vibert (France, 1825). Bred by Unknown (before 1834).
Class:
Noisette.  
Bloom:
Purple - red.  Medium, full (26-40 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Blooms tend to ball in wet weather.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).

Notes:
Charles X (1757-1836) was King of France from 1824-1830.
Possibly identical with the China by Mauget, as an early reference calls it both Noisette and Bengal.
