Origin:
Bred by Unknown Dutch origin (Netherlands, before 1778).
Class:
Gallica / Provins, Hybrid Gallica.  
Bloom:
Light pink, lilac shading, darker center.  Medium, full (26-40 petals) bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).

Notes:
Not identical to the Portland 'Rose du Roi' -see. The hybrid gallica sold by Vibert could be either of these two varieties. A hyacinth named 'Rose du Roi' was also sold in the 1750s.
Hardy treats 'Stadtholder' and 'Roi des hollandais' as synonyms of 'Grand Monarque'.
