Origin:

Bred by J.-M. Gonod (France, 1881).
Introduced in Australia by J. Scott & Son. in 1889 as 'Beauté de l'Europe'.

Bloom:

Deep yellow, copper reverse. Mild fragrance. Very large, very full (41+ petals), globular bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Habit:

Climbing, few or no prickles/thorns. Glossy, dark green foliage.

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Hardy. vigorous. Prune lightly or not at all.

Patents:

Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).

Parentage:

seedling of Gloire de Dijon (Tea Noisette, Jacotot, 1849)

Notes:

Sangerhausen classifies this rose as a Tea. There are different opinions on the parentage (see References).
'Beauté de l'Europe' in gardens and commerce is probably not the original rose.
