Bred by Wilhelm J.H. Kordes II (1891-1976) (Germany, before 1957).

Class:

Floribunda, Hybrid Rubiginosa.

Bloom:

Deep yellow to light yellow. Strong fragrance. 25 to 30 petals. Very large, full (26-40 petals), in small clusters, high-centered bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Ovoid buds.

Habit:

Bushy, upright. Glossy, light green, leathery foliage.

Height: up to 28" (up to 70cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Disease susceptibility: susceptible to blackspot .

s.s. "Cläre Grammerstorf" was the name of a steam cargo ship of the shipping company Karl Grammerstorf in Kiel, Germany.
[From Forum-schiff35-plus.net:] She was built at the Howaldtswerken of Kielwith 3482 BRT and launched 1930 as "Marcel Schiaffino" for a French shipping line. On August 7, 1940 she was captured by the Germans and rebuilt as transporter "H 24". In 1941 again renamed "Dockenhuden" and used as a torpedo transporter. The ship capsized in Hamburg harbour on April 30, 1945 after bombing. The wreckage was towed to Kiel in 1947 and handed over to Karl Grammerstorf (1882-1966) in 1949. He had her repaired and relaunched on March 14, 1950 as "Cläre Grammerstorf" [for fruit service]. Finally, on May 22, 1963 she arrived in Temse, Belgium where she was broken down.
