Registration name: Willowmere

Bred by Joseph Pernet-Ducher (France, before 1912).
Introduced in France by Pernet-Ducher, Joseph in 1913 as 'Willowmere'.
Introduced in Australia by H. Kemp in 1914 as 'Willowmere'.

Hybrid Tea, Pernetiana.  

Orange-pink, yellow shading, carmine-pink outer petals, ages to salmon-pink .  Mild fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), cupped-to-flat bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  

Few or no prickles/thorns, upright, well-branched.  Light green foliage.  

USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Vigorous.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  

'Willowmere' was named for the Roslyn, Long Island home of Admiral and Mrs. Aaron Ward. Admiral Ward was a friend and patron of Pernet-Ducher, and at Willowmere he maintained an extensive collection of roses, of which he sometimes wrote evaluations for various gardening publications.
