Arena Roses 1999 Catalog presents a list of roses hybridized by the Guillot Family. This is one of the roses that is on that list. (Modern Roses 10 says there is also a rose by this name from Guillot and gives a date of 1853 for its introduction.)
Madame Bravy was bred by a gardener also named Guillot in 1846 as "Danzille" and introduced by J.-B. Guillot (père) in 1848 as Mme Bravy (synonym: Mme de Sertot). L'Haÿ's 1902 catalogue listed 'Danzille' and 'Madame Bravy' separately.
Gilbert Bravy was a nurseryman in Clermont-Ferrand, and an honorary member of the Cercle générale d'horticulture from 1846 on.
