Mattocks Roses of Nuneham Courtney, near Oxford, was started in 1875. It was the British introducer for Kordes and probably the best known mail order rose supplier in the country when it was acquired by Notcutts in 1985. In 2008 employees of Nottcutts started a production nursery called John Woods Nurseries while the Notcutts family continued the garden centre range only – brand name “Mattocks Roses”. John Woods Nurseries went into administration in November 2015.
